Duncan McFadyen of Kincardine, died peacefully in his 88th year, after a brief illness, at Juravinski Medical Centre in Hamilton.
Predeceased by his wife Ellen (Edmiston), his parents Frank and Mary (Carlton) and sister Florence (Hugh Fitzsimmons).
He is survived by his children Scott (Nancy), Sue (Brian Samson), Eric (Julie) and Kate (Dave Wright) and grandchildren Erica McFadyen (Ryan Jakob), Rob Samson (Rachel Craig), Ally Samson, Jeffrey McFadyen (Micki Wellhauser), Andrew McFadyen (Tawny Robinson) and Tegan Wright.
Also survived by his sister-in-law Jane Guest and nephews and nieces who will miss his jokes and quick wit.
Duncan started working for the Andrew Malcolm Furniture company at 16 and worked there until the factory closed, He worked at Home Hardware in Kincardine until he finally retired at 75.
His favourite thing to do was to listen to the Kincardine Scottish pipe band and he never missed a Saturday at the corner of Queen and Lambton.
Cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service and interment will take place at Kincardine cemetery in the summer when the bagpipes play again.
