BIGGAR, Dr. James Elmer
Passed away peacefully at Billings Court Manor, Burlington, on January 12, 2022 in his 83rd year. Beloved husband and best friend of Susan Biggar (deceased) for over 49 wonderful years. Loving father of James (Michelle) of Toronto, Robert (Allison) of Burlington, and Christopher of Vancouver. Proud grandfather of Wyatt, Addison, Alexis and Evan. Survived by his sister Sandra and her husband Dr. Gerry Boswell. Jim grew up on a peach/cherry farm in Grimsby, Ontario playing hockey and football. He attended Queen’s engineering for several years before attending Dental school at the University of Toronto where he was a fun-loving member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity. Jim returned to dental school after several years of private practice to become a Periodontist and then practiced in Burlington for over 40 years. Jim met Susan in 1967 and together they built and maintained Trillium Wood North (Lake Rosseau) and South (Burlington).
Jim was devoted to his family and enjoyed nothing more than engaging in building projects with his sons and grandchildren such as the hockey pond, skating trails and golf holes at Trillium Wood in addition to endless cottage projects, including founding the “Health Club” on Lake Muskoka. He had tremendous energy for his many passions and hobbies such as boat building, duck carving, casting and hand painting lead soldiers, duck hunting, sports card, golf, tennis and hockey. Jim and Susan loved to travel to Europe on ski and golf trips and to entertain family and friends in Muskoka and Burlington. Jim’s sense of adventure and work ethic was an inspiration to his family and he will be deeply missed by his extended family and friends.
A special thanks to the PSW’s, Nurses and Doctors of Billings Court Manor for their care and compassion. A Celebration of Life will be held upon COVID re-opening; arrangements entrusted to Smith’s Funeral Home in Burlington. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada at www.alzheimer.ca or Billings Court Manor.
