Douglas Theodore Pelton 1937 2022

Obituary of Douglas Theodore Pelton
Douglas Theodore Pelton, 84 of Berwick, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2022 in the Valley Regional Hospital in the company of family. Born in Berwick NS, he was the son of the late George and Grace (Zwicker) Pelton.
Dad was a loving Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather.
Dad had a humble and kind character and he was devoted to all who loved him dearly.
Dad worked for the Department of Lands and Forest for many years until he retired, a career that gave Dad such gratification for many years. When he retired, he took on many jobs in the town of Berwick, lawn maintenance, tending to gardens, and anything he felt he could conquer. Along the way, there were many life-long friends made.
Dad was a member of the Waterville Baptist Church and devoted some of his time keeping busy working on the outside maintenance, mowing the lawn, tending the flower beds. Dad was also a member of the choir in his little hometown church and loved to sing praises to his Lord and Savior. Dad was so proud of his church family, and loved them all dearly.
Dad enjoyed visits with his family and the family get-togethers we always shared; he especially loved his birthday celebrations when his children, grandchilren, and friends would all gather. His grandchildren and great grandchildren meant the world to him and Dad was not shy in showing how proud he was of each of them.
Another one of Dad’s passions was his little hobby farm, and the cattle he always seemed to have. From the time of being a young man, he always had cattle and calves to care for. When Dad moved to Berwick he still had his cattle and loved to talk about them often. He definetly was a proud little farmer.
Dad loved his walks and it was a routine for him everyday, Dad made many friends of children and their parents when he was out on his walks, he always carried a pocket full of toonies to pass out to whoever he felt needed a treat on that particular day. Dad became well known as the sweet kind man of Berwick to many children.
“Dad was a wonderful, loving, kind, and supportive father who always had time to listen and give his advice. He had a great love for any and all he knew or came to know him. You will be forever missed by all, Dad.”
Dad will be lovingly remembered by his family and is survived by daugters, Rebecca (Keith) Pulsifer, Waterville; Darlene (Kevin) Kenneally, Harbourville; Elizabeth Pelton, Berwick; Diana Brothers, Bedford; sons, Chrisopher Pelton, Hantsport; and Darrell Pelton, Waterville. Dad is also survived by brothers, Blake Pelton, Berwick; Curtis (Susan) Pelton, Port Williams; sister, Gloria Baltzer, Kingston; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Dad was predeceased by brothers, Mansfield, Arnold, Stanley; sister, Lillis Pelton; and his son, Rickey Pelton .
A special thank you to all the staff at Valley Regional Hospital in the Medical A unit, the nurses came to know and love Dad personally and often would call him Grampy Pelton. Thank you at Valley Regional for giving Dad so much care and love.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the Waterville Baptist Church. Reception will follow the service and interment will take place in the Berwick Cemetery.
