Obituary of Douglas James Reed
On Wednesday, June 15th, 2022, Douglas passed away peacefully with his wife by his side and surrounded by his loving family. He was loved and will be missed by his wife Julia Reed (nee Johnston), and sons, Bradley Reed (Jessica Solems), and James Reed (friend Erica). Loving Pa, Poppy, Grampa of Elena, Myla, Calie & Declan. Doug will be dearly missed by his brother & sisters, Louise Gallaher (John), Howie Reed (Debbie), and Dianne O’Connor (Mike), and by his nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends. Predeceased by his loving parents, Howard & Lorraine Reed (nee Bosomworth), and by his Mother-in-law and Father-in-law, Raymond & Lena Johnston (nee Bosley). Doug played baseball for many years and also had a great love for hockey and golf. He fought the battle and never gave up. His loss is felt by all who knew him. Doug’s family would like to send a special thank you to Amber Babcock, Lori Taylor, and all the VON nurses for their kindness and compassion.
Visitation will be held at Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West, Belleville (613-968-2273), on Friday, June 24th, 2022, from 1-3 p.m. & 6-8 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, 399 Victoria Avenue, Belleville, on Saturday, June 25th, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. Following the Mass, everyone is welcome to gather at Julia & Doug’s home for a Celebration of Doug’s Life.
