Douglas George Curr 1944 2022

Obituary of Douglas George Curr
Douglas George Curr passed peacefully surrounded by those who loved him dearly. He spent his final days drinking double doubles, enjoying life by the lake with dear friends Mike and Ashley, visiting with loved ones, and snuggling his grandkids (Scotlynn, Sansa and Sutton). Doug will be remembered as a loving father to Brent (Jade), Brad (Bridget), Daryl (Tammy) and Anne.
He enjoyed two great loves in his lifetime – predeceased by his late wife Kathleen and previous wife and long time friend, Linell.
He dedicated his life to the Markham Fire Department, admired by many and retiring as a Captain. Ever the hard worker, retirement was not an option. He partnered with and worked alongside his dear friend Mike to build Redfab to the operation it is today. His generosity, compassion, hard work and friendship will be missed by so many.
Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, so loved, so missed, so very dear.
In keeping with Doug’s wishes, no funeral will be held, but donations can be made in his honour to Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital or Saint Elizabeth Health Care.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Douglas

  1. Doug and I were in public and high school together. Back then I knew all his brother’s names.
Probably the biggest thing I remember about Doug when we were in school goofing around was his laugh and his smile, seemed to always be in good spirits.
We now live in Vancouver so I didn’t know he made it to Captain of the Markham Fire Department and I know all about that position as my Dad was Fire Chief in Markham for 16 years I believe when it was a volunteer organization and our family lived over the council chambers and fire hall on Main Street..
Our condolences to Doug’s family and friends as they have lost a good man!
