Douglas Wolfe 2022

Douglas Wolfe
(May 7, 1955 – July 29, 2022)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce Doug passed away July 29, 2022 peacefully at his home in Port Lambton, surrounded by his family at the age of 67 following a short but hard fought battle with cancer.
Doug was a husband, father, papa, brother, cousin, uncle and friend. Doug was predeceased by his parents Kenneth and Reta Wolfe of Wallaceburg. He was a loving husband of 29 years to Liz Wolfe. An amazing father to Jenn Tremblay (Shawn), Judy Wolfe, Craig Hazen, Lindsey Hazen (Andrew). Adoring Papa to Brayden, Dylan, Elyana, Reed, Parker and Grayson. Beloved brother to Bob Wolfe, Pat Simpson (Brad), and Susan Lawrence. Dear brother in law to Nellie Barton (Barry), Wayne Van Opstal (Lynn), Adrian Van Opstal, Harry Van Opstal (Bonnie), and Jim Van Opstal (Darlene). Doug will also be fondly remembered often as the ‘favourite’ uncle by many loving nieces and nephews.
While he was taken from us too soon, Doug lived his life to the absolute fullest. Doug had many passions, first and foremost was his love for his family, which was his pride and joy. And for those that knew Doug’s friendship knew they were family too.
Doug had a passion for the game of baseball, and was honoured many times at the Wallaceburg Sports Hall of Fame. He also shared his love for the game coaching his daughters growing up, as well as the Port Lambton Pirates; “those guys are crazy” he would say through tears of laughter. His grandsons followed in his footsteps with their love of sports and Doug couldn’t have been a more proud Papa at the arena and ball diamond.
Doug could tell hunting and fishing stories for hours from over the years. While Doug could remember every moose or fish, it was the love and laughter that he shared with his closest friends and family during those times that shined through in his stories the most.
Doug loved to spend his winters traveling with friends and family, and his summers on the water. Behind the wheel of his boat was his favourite place to be. Any day on the water was a great day for Doug and he was able to spend his last few days at home on the canal.
There will be no service as per Doug’s request, however a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Instead, the family asks you to raise a cold one in his honour and true Doug fashion. Cheers!
