Douglas’ Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas Roland Wallace, 92 of Wallace Bridge. Born March 5, 1930 in Springhill, he was a son of the late Cerdic and Catherine (Stubbert) Wallace. Douglas spent most of his life working at Windsor Salt Mine, first in Malagash then in Pugwash where he was one of the miners to sink the original shaft. His work ethic was strong and he was known as a fair and honest man. Dad loved a good laugh and told many stories of growing up and especially Fountain Road stories. He loved family and was always there for them. Some of his best times were spent in his garden and boating on the Wallace River. “A strong faith in God helped to walk this path of life and whatever God’s plan is it’s ok with me.” Survived by his sons David and Scott, both of Wallace and daughter Linda (Dwight) Gallagher of Springhill; grandson Luke (Amanda) Gallagher of Springhill; great grandchildren Isaac, Emily and Xander; sister Dorothy (Mel) Sellick; brothers Reg (Lorraine) and Richard (Linda). Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Anne (Brander) and infant son Roy Douglas. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. with the funeral service starting at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2022, both in Mundle’s Funeral Home, 204 Water St., Pugwash, (The family request those attending to please wear a mask), with burial to follow at the Riverside Cemetery, Wallace River. Donations in memory may be made to the Riverside Cemetery.
