It is with deep sorrow and loss that we mourn the passing of Doug, at the age of 75 years, after a lengthy and courageous struggle against many health issues.
Doug was born in Edmonton, growing up and helping out in his parent’s grocery and food take-out businesses. He developed his passion for photography, cars, and music during his high school years. His lifelong interest for photography gave him opportunities to work in retail providing camera and photographic services. He later opened his own photography business in St. Albert. Doug had numerous other interests, ranging from wood working to stunt kites to computers. He was active in the many clubs that he belonged to and enjoyed the camaraderie and friendships from these groups.
Doug will be forever remembered by his beloved wife Regina; his mother Jennie; siblings: Carolynne, Terry (Sharon), Ray (Tammy), Donna, Joanne (Rodger); niece and nephews: Lauren (David), Gregory, Christopher, Steven, Thomas and great nephew: Jacob. Doug was predeceased by his father, Lee.
The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and all the support staff at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, and the Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre who cared for Doug.
The family respectfully asks that face masks be worn while inside Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Connelly-McKinley St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive, St. Albert. Interment to follow at Northern Lights Cemetery, 15203 Campbell Rd NW, Edmonton.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Douglas Poon 2022..
