Douglas was born on October 15, 1954 in Mallard Manitoba where he was raised. In his later years he moved back and forth from Winnipeg to Berens River where he lived just before his passing. He was a hard worker all his life and worked as a roofer, kettle man to pulp wood cutter. He loved to spend time with family and friends, watch sports, chop wood, play bingo, listen to music and he really enjoyed his morning cigarette, coffee, and conversations with his wife. He had a great sense of humor and would always make everyone laugh and feel welcomed right until the very end.
Douglas loved all his children, grandkids and great grandkids and never gave up on them. At the end he was still wanting to help them and others. He was especially close to his granddaughter Dominique Campbell who he called his baby, and she called him Papa.
Douglas was a good man and had many friends and family who loved him dearly. He will always be remembered for all the good deeds that he did and all the love he showed onto others. He will forever be in our hearts and missed dearly by all who knew him.
Douglas fought a good fight with cancer and God saw he was tired and called him home.
The family would like to thank all the staff in the palliative care unit at the St. Boniface Hospital for their amazing support while he was in their care. Thanks to his homecare worker Brian Saunders, Berens River First Nation, Chief and Council.
