Douglas James Carmody
1937-2022
The death occurred peacefully at the Provincial Palliative
Care Centre on Saturday, February 19, 2022 of Douglas James Carmody of
Charlottetown, PEI, aged 84 years.
Predeceased by his parents, Weston Sr. and Kathleen (Powell)
Carmody, his brother, Weston Carmody Jr., his sister Lillian Carmody
and half siblings Heath (Mary) Carmody of White Rock, BC, Ernest
(Betty) Carmody of Truro, NS, Dorothy (Lawrence) Webb of Amherst, NS,
and Evelyn (Ray) Lawson of Sault Ste. Marie, ON.
He leaves to mourn his sons, Douglas E. (Elspeth) Carmody and
Brooks (Germaine) Carmody; his daughter, Christina (Chris) McCarron;
his grandchildren Erin and Anson (Bethany) Carmody, Josh Carmody and
Caidance, Charlotte, Carson and Carmen McCarron; his great
granddaughter Anna Carmody; special friend Ann Peters; close friend
Junior Stordy; and many nieces and nephews.
Doug was one of the original members of PEI’s first rock
‘n roll band, The Tremtones. He was a talented drummer and
singer. He especially rocked the song, “Unchained
Melody”. He was also an avid fisherman and Charlottetown
Islanders hockey fan.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Hennessey Cutcliffe
Charlottetown Funeral Home. No visitation or funeral service by
personal request. Interment to take place in the family plot at the
People’s Cemetery at a later date.
Very special thanks to the staff at the Provincial Palliative
Care Centre for the excellent care provided in his final days; and to
the staff of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, the Prince County
Hospital and Andrews of Charlottetown.
