Obituary
Doug Wake died peacefully at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Alliston on Sunday, October 17th, in his 93rd year. Doug will be dearly missed by Marion, his wife of 70 years. He is predeceased by his daughter Denise Laker (2020), and remembered by his son in law Terry .
Doug will be lovingly remembered by his grandson Jeffrey (Kirby), Brett (Tania), Wendy, and Sharon, as well as his great grandsons Greyson and Brody, as well as his sister Muriel Avis (Bob), Ruth Little, Emily Carry, Gwen Solway (Bob Deceased), Jack Acheson (Linda). He is predeceased by his sibling in laws, Lois, Jane and Ed. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, and nephews
Doug was a charter member of Trinity Centennial United Church in Rosemont, where he faithfully served as a member of many committees over the years, as well as carrying out a great number of tasks to maintain the church building. He had a knack for fixing things, and always had the spare part or tool needed for the job on hand in his shop. He and Marion welcomed the congregation many times for Easter sunrise service around the pond or back in the woods at their home in Rosemont.
Doug also served the community as a member of the Shriners for many years, he was a good neighbour and a great friend. He will be missed.
A celebration of Doug’s life will be held at Trinity Centennial United Church in Rosemont Ontario on Saturday, 29 Oct 2022 at 11am, with a reception to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, any Donations received in memory of Doug will go directly back to his beloved Church.
