Douglas Alfred Kane 19382022

Douglas Alfred Kane
1938-2022
Douglas Alfred Kane, 84, of Forest Dale Home and formerly
of Alma passed away peacefully on September 28th, 2022 at the Nursing
Home.
Douglas was born in Alma West, NB on February 24th, 1938
the son of the late Hamilton and Georgia (Dixon)
Kane.
Doug lived his whole life in the Alma area and loved to be
surrounded by the beautiful scenery. He was raised in a large
family with several siblings and they lived off the land and were very
close. He worked at the Potato Farm in Herrings
Cove for a time then went on to own a Lobster Boat, fishing
from Alma until his retirement. He was an avid
hunter, having got his share of big game. He also enjoyed
time spent fishing, just being outdoors in the woods
was his happy place. When Doug met Pat he was
smitten first thing and then started their own family.
He was so happy to have his daughter and son,
they meant the world to him. His quiet
and calm demeanor was a great asset to have as a father.
Then his grandson, Brett, came along and he treasured the special
connection they shared. Doug was always ready to
help in any way he could and always with a smile.
His great-grandchildren will be told many stories about
their great-grandfather and hopefully his love of family and nature
will be passed on to them. His greatest pleasure in life was
spending time with his family. “FAMILY IS
EVERYTHING”
When his health was declining he felt blessed to have his
family help look after all his needs and was grateful for all the
effort put into him staying at his beloved home. The family
would like to say thank you to the Forest Dale Home for all
their care even if it was for a short time, it helped to know
he was being well cared for when we couldn’t be there, even though we
visited him daily. The care and support given will
never be forgotten.
He will be deeply missed by his wife and best friend, Pat
Kane; his daughter, Pam Cooper (Darryl) and son Mark Kane all of Alma;
his grandson, Brett Cooper (Shawna) of Alma; his treasured great
grandchildren, Ty and Lexie; sisters, Edna Sinclair of
Halifax, Joan Tingley of Riverside-Albert, Donna Pittman (Allan) of
Alma, Paula Landsdale (Rick) of Alma and Darlene Nelson of Moncton;
brothers, Wayne Kane (Gloria) of Alma, Russell Kane (Brenda) of
Brooks, AB and Clayton Kane (Darlene) of Alma. He will also
be missed by several nieces, nephews, all his extended family and
friends.
Besides his parents, Hamilton and Georgia he was
predeceased by brother, Reg; brother-in-laws, Melvin Sinclair, Steven
Nelson and Darrell Tingley
Honouring Doug’s own wishes there will be no visitation or
funeral service.
For those who wish donations to the charity of the donor’s
choice would be appreciated by the family.
