Obituary of Dorothy Arleen Amirault
Amirault, Dorothy Arlene, 81 passed away peacefully June 26, 2022 in Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. Born in Middleton she was a daughter of the late Hedley and Muriel Maxner.
Dorothy will be remembered for the special place she held in her heart for animals. Dorothy loved all animals and rescued and cared for any animal that she knew was in need of help. She volunteered with the TLC Animal Shelter for much of her adult life. Dorothy’s talents included being a florist. She was an entrepreneur and business woman and until she retired as a florist was the owner and operator of Dorothy’s House of Flowers in Annapolis Royal. One of Dorothy’s passions throughout her entire life was music. Dorothy was a talented piano and guitar player. She often sang and played at church and other functions. Another passion was photography and Dorothy always had a camera in her hands, no matter what the occasion.
Dorothy is survived by her son Daniel (Michelle) Emin of Digby, brother Fred Maxner of Annapolis Royal, son-in-law Roy Hanson of Halifax; grandchildren: Kristen (Adam) Sabean of Digby, Devin (Megan) Emin of Dartmouth, Brittney Emin of Edmonton, AB; great grandchildren: Kylie, Benjamin, Jackie, Claire, Brooklyn; niece Emily Maxner of Musquodoboit Harbour, and leaves behind her longtime friend Jean Spavold.
She was predeceased by her son Mitchell Emin.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. At Dorothy’s request her remains will be interred at a private family graveside service at a later date. On line condolences may be sent at www.kaulbachfamilyfuneralhome.com
