Dorothy May Rolfe (nee Mancer) passed away peacefully on October 6th, 2022, with family by her side. Dorothy was born November 21st (celebrated November 26) 1927 in Middle England.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Daphne (Barrie), grandchildren Derek (Chris), Lindsay, Russell (Victoria), Daniel and great-grandson Jordan, her sister Babs in Australia and many nieces and nephews in Australia, England, and the United States.
Dorothy is predeceased by her husband Leslie, son Peter and daughter in law Fran, sisters Lily, Violet and Daisy as well as her brothers Ronald, Philip, Reginald, Edwin, and Leonard.
Mum travelled from England to Canada in 1957 with my brother Peter and I, to join Dad who had arrived a few months before to start a new life. They celebrated their 70th anniversary together in 2019.
Dorothy loved to cook, bake, garden, and knit. She enjoyed line dancing, playing darts, cards, and snooker. She enjoyed attending theater and concerts.
Dorothy had a passion for daily walking, no matter the weather. Summers were full of camping, BBQ’s and friends. As they approached retirement, their travels included destinations of Australia, Europe, Great Britain, Hong Kong, as well as many cruises.
Mum, I miss your smile and laughter, our daily phone calls. But I know you are watching over us with Dad. Reunited with Peter and Fran… also all of your dear friends, brothers, and sisters.
Thank you for being the best Mum, Nana, Aunt, and teacher.
Thank you to Elim care home staff for the love, care, and respect you provided our Mum.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel, 11969 216 street in Maple Ridge, on Thursday November 24, 2022, at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Dorothy’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society or Elim Village – Surrey BC
