It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Dorothy Margaret Simpson (nee Butson) on Monday, May 23, 2022 at 1:45 p.m. in her 100th year. Dorothy was born and raised in Stratford Ontario with her sister Audrey (Tidy) who passed away in 2015 and her brother Doug Butson who passed away in 2002. She is survived by her sister-in-law Alicia Butson as well as many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy and family moved to Hamilton when she was 13 years old and later fell in love with her husband Jim and was married to him for 68 years, until he passed away in 2010. They had two children; Jane (Gord Lees) and Jo-Anne (Larry Csicsak) and she was blessed with two grandchildren; Cindy (John LeBlanc) and Derek Lees (Melissa), four great grandchildren; Megan LeBlanc, Laura Devos (Andrew), Jarrett Lees and Chloe Lees, as well as two great great grandchildren; Hazel Devos and Cohen Devos.
Dorothy worked as a bridal consultant for 40 years and loved every day of it. She enjoyed traveling through Europe in the summers and spending winters in Florida. Dorothy will live on in the hearts of everyone she met.
A Celebration of Dorothy’s Life will take place at Bay Gardens Funeral Home “William J. Markey Chapel”, 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Sunday, June 5, 2022 from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to wear something with a “pop” of colour in celebration of Dorothy!
