Obituary
Dorothy Leah Schumaker (nee Ouellette) passed away on August 16, 2022, at the age of 85 surrounded by her family.
Dorothy was born on April 29, 1937, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was raised in Regina, Saskatchewan with her six sisters and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy. She was very active in school sports such as basketball and swimming where she won many awards. Dorothy then went on to Regina Grey Nuns School of Nursing in 1955. She moved to Calgary in 1959 where she was a Registered Nurse at the Holy Cross Hospital in pediatrics. She later retired from her career at the Tom Baker Cancer Center.
She met Leslie Schumaker and married on June 29, 1963, and soon after started her family. Dorothy was a nurturing, gentle, and compassionate wife, mother, friend, and nurse who will be greatly missed by all. Her family was her joy and she always had a meal prepared whether it be her famous spaghetti, or roast chicken, and always with meaningful table conversations.
Dorothy is survived by her husband Leslie; her children Michelle (Michael), Melissa (Richard), and Monique; and her grandchildren Joshua, Jamie, Justin, Michelle-Leah; Jordan, Madison; John-Paul, (Valentina), Angeleah, Gabriella (Derek), Faith-Anne; and her great-granddaughters Emilia and Eliana.
