Smye, Dorothy Jean (nee Fulton)
We celebrate the life and mourn the passing of a wonderful woman, Dorothy Jean Smye (Fulton), who in her 99th year passed peacefully on April 27, 2022 at Alexander Place, Waterdown.
Beloved wife of Lloyd Smye, dearest Mom of Allan of Ottawa and Marie of Waterdown.
Adoring Grandma to Ryan (Etana) and Adam (Elizabeth) and cherished Great-Grandma to George and Maggie.
Dear sister-in-law of †Verna (†Don) Carey; and sister-in-law Alena (†Roy) Smye.
Dear and forever friend to Norma Martin, Ruth McCuen, Helen Kurluk and Margaret Butryn.
Dorothy will always be remembered for her compassion towards others and her selfless manner. She was always a lady, filled with grace but also loved to have fun and you could often see a twinkle in her eye, especially when she was beating you at cards.
Visitation will be held at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill St. N., Waterdown on Saturday, April 30, 2022 from 10-11 a.m. Where a Funeral Service will begin at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow then Interment at Millgrove Cemetery. Livestream of the service will be available through the funeral home website. Family request those attending in person to please bring and wear a mask.
The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to staff at St. Joseph’s Villa and Alexander Place for their care and compassion, especially during these last few days.
Donations to Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice as expressions of sympathy.
The secret to Dorothy’s longevity was to ‘always save room for dessert.’
