Obituary for Dorothy Henri
Dorothy Gertrude Henri (Maiden name: Franklin)
Date of Birth: 15 August 1939
Date of Death: 8 December 2021
Dorothy (affectionately called ‘Doll’ by her family), wife of ( late John Henri; a doting and beloved Mother to John, Ephraim and her late daughter baby Sarah, she was a loving and proud grandmother to Donnal, Diedra, Shanna and Keira.
Doll was also a much loved and respected eldest sister to (late) George, Brian, Prunella, Joanne, John and Marie. Doll brought her parents Alice and Robert Franklin a lot of pride and joy. She was a gifted child and remained a genius to the day of her sad passing.
Doll was always a nurturing person, she was just like a 2nd mother to her 6 other siblings and a strength to her parents. Her life’s ambition was to be a teacher. She started on her academic journey towards becoming an accomplished teacher from a very young teenager. She started her career as a teacher in the Railway Mixed High School in Secunderabad India, where she worked for 42 years. She completed her MA while working as teacher and at the same time raising her two sons into very accomplished and talented young men. She was always supported and encouraged by her late husband Henri to strive and achieve her goals as a teacher and mother. Her strong belief was that every human being was intelligent and could accomplish whatever he or she set their minds to accomplishing – they just needed to be nurtured and given the opportunity to do so. That was her mantra as a teacher.
Our Doll was a beautiful, gentle and very unassuming humble being. The cornerstone of her life was her faith in God. She led a very simple life with very little needs (aside from her voracious love of reading and indulging in her many artistic talents and interests). She could spend hours hidden behind a book, she had a photographic memory and could relate her readings verbatim. She was very unselfish and imparted all her knowledge freely.
Doll will leave a very big void in her family’s lives. But, she has left many memories for us all to cherish to the end of our days. We love her very much and always will. We will miss you our Darling Doll. We know you will always be around us guiding and encouraging us to be better human beings every day. You have gone to join your loving husband Henri, daughter Sarah, your parents Robert and Alice and your brother George. Rest in Peace our Darling.
John 14:1-3 “Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.” Psalm 36:5-6 Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness is like the highest mountains, your justice like the great deep. You, Lord, preserve both people and animals
