Dorothy Helen Nau March 14th 2022

The 90-year-old matriarch of the Nau family, Dorothy Helen, peacefully passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022 surrounded by family and attended to by kindhearted and attentive medical staff at the Regina General Hospital, Regina, Saskatchewan.
Dorothy was born on July 31, 1931 in the Kelvington Hospital, Kelvington, Saskatchewan – not in the “barn” or field as her ten older siblings were, apparently – to Caroline (Schmidt) and Rudolph Minky. She was educated at Treherne Centre School, Saskatchewan till grade 8 then lived in the Nut Mountain Hotel, Nut Mountain, Saskatchewan to attend high school there. Dorothy lived and worked on the family farm until 1954 then she packed up and moved to Regina with her lifelong friend Tootie Brown. Her grand adventure to the city continued when she met and later married Fred Nau, producing four kids Rita, Sherry, Wade and Michael. Her sideline job at Sears Warehouse in the Catalogue Shopping Department provided relief from the demands of family and many people stories.
People-watching highly entertained Dorothy. She enjoyed carting her kids to parades and various functions at Wascana Park over the years, attending both on her own when the kids got too old or cool or busy to go along. The park was pivotal in her life in Regina for most every home she lived in existed on its periphery. She was thrilled to go for drives in the country, especially down unknown grids to experience the countryside. Most recently, as long as she could navigate her way into a vehicle, her greatest pleasure was to sit awhile by the lake enjoying the geese, the walkers, joggers and families, peacefully sipping her tea and eating her crumpet. Dorothy was loved and liked for her quiet, kindly manner, her gentle smile and accepting presence – and her quirky humor quietly delivered and enjoyed by all who knew her.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Fred; parents Rudolph and Caroline; her brothers John, Willie, Harold and Donny; her sisters Minnie, Alice, Adeline and Jenny; niece Cheryl and nephew Wayne. She leaves behind her daughter Rita (Bill) McClintock and grandkids Kyle, Berke and Rae; daughter Sherry and grandkids Krystal and James and their families; son Wade; son Michael (Deanna) and grandkids Alex and Abby; her sisters Irene and Hazel and her family; sister-in-law Margie and her family.
The Nau family is profoundly grateful for the compassion and care Dorothy received at the Regina General Hospital Emergency and Unit 6F. The doctors, nurses and all attending staff have a place in our hearts.
Celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held on Friday, March 18, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in Westminster United Church, 3025 – 13th Avenue, Regina, Saskatchewan with Reverend Darrell Reine officiating.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Dorothy Helen Nau March 14th 2022..
