Dorothy Elizabeth “Dolly” (Ward)
Moore – 98, Truro. It
is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our
mother at The Magnolia Continuing Care Community, Enfield, on Tuesday,
February 22, 2022. Dolly was born in 1923 in Riverside Corner, Hants
County, and was a daughter of the late Gordon and Mary (Dalrymple)
Ward.
After growing up on the family farm, she taught in a one room
schoolhouse in Burntcoat and then left to attend the former Aberdeen
Hospital School of Nursing in New Glasgow, of which she was a proud
graduate. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church, Truro,
as well as Colchester Chapter IODE, June Allen Missionary Group,
Colchester Hospital Auxiliary and Colchester Heritage Rug Hookers. She
created many beautiful rugs and mats which adorn her
family’s homes. An avid walker, she could often be seen
walking the streets of Truro or Cobequid Trail. She was a loving wife,
mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her son, Peter (Peggi), Calgary, Alberta;
daughters, Lori Ann Andrews (Michael), Halifax; Linda Cormier (Marc),
Fredericton, New Brunswick; grandchildren, Logan, Brett, Megan,
Hannah, Sarah; great grandchildren, Ava, James, Quinn; sister, Shirley
Cock (Lorne), Truro; many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents,
she was predeceased by her husband, Dr. David Moore (1986); sisters,
Myrta, Minnie, Ella, Eva, Rae, Mary, Joyce; brothers, Roy, Elmore,
Russell.
We would like to extend thanks to the staff at The Magnolia
for making Mom’s last year a memorable one; your love and
support was greatly appreciated. Also, thanks to the staff at Parkland
Truro for the care and compassion that you imparted during the five
years prior. Special thanks to her favourite caregiver and walking
companion, Valerie Kerr.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where a funeral service
will be held at a later date. Interment in Bible Hill Cemetery. If so
desired, you might consider a donation to Colchester East Hants Health
Centre Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice.
