Dorothy Dot McCURDY 1924 –

November 29, 1924 – February 24, 2022
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Mom, Nana, Great Grandmother at the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice.
Mom is survived by her son Greg Cameron (Linda) [Nicole, Tara, Ryan, Ashley].
Her daughter Susan Burke (Laurence) [Jason, Matt, Sean].
Her daughter Donna Cameron [Susie, Kiel].
Predeceased by husband Jim McCurdy and son Peter Cameron (Ghislaine) [Melanie, Michelle]and 20 Great Grandkids.
Mom was born in West Newberry, Mass., USA. As a child the family immigrated to St. Stephen, NB with her parents Heber and Georgina Fitzsimmons, siblings Grace, Marjorie and George. As a teenager in St. Stephens she worked at several jobs; Ganong Candy factory, the Axe factory and the Wearknitters, making uniforms for World War II servicemen.
After her first marriage she moved to St John, NB where she had her four children. In the early 60’s the family moved back to St. Stephen and eventually relocated to British Columbia in 1967. Mom spent the rest of her life in Kamloops. She made several road-trips back to the Maritimes to visit friends and family. Mom and Jim loved to travel and camp in their Chevy camper van.
Mom worked at several jobs in Kamloops before settling in as part of the kitchen staff at Royal Inland Hospital where she worked till retirement in 1989.
There will be no funeral or services as per Mom’s request.
The family gives a special thanks to BC Ambulance and Kamloops Fire and Rescue, RIH Emergency staff Dr. Herbert, Dr. Newmarch, Dr. McLaren, Darcy and Matt.
Also the staff at Marjorie Willoughby Snowden.
