Obituary of Doris Mae Chaplin
Chaplin, Doris Mae (Nee Gamble)
Born July 3, 1923, passed December 17, 2022 in her 100th year, at Lanark Lodge following a brief battle with Covid 19. She was the daughter of John & Jean Gamble. Predeceased by her husband Donald Chaplin (March 6, 2007) and son Gary Chaplin (June 28, 2019). Loving Mother of Grant Chaplin (Late Carole), and Grandmother to Christa Turcotte (Jeff) and James Chaplin (Amber) and Great-Grandmother to Connor Vallier and Kayleigh Vallier. Having lost the sight in her left eye at the age of 10, she was able to overcome most obstacles and loved sports and competition in curling, golf, bowling and playing bridge with her many friends. She competed in the Canadian Senior Games in Whitehorse, YT and was the recipient of a gold medal from those games. Our family would like to thank the staff of Lanark Lodge for their compassionate care during her extended stay there. Per her wishes, there will be no visitation or service. A private interment will be held in Perth Cemetery at a future date. Arrangements are in the care of Blair & Son Funeral Directors, Perth. In remembrance of Doris, contributions to St. Paul’s United Church, Perth or Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital Foundation, Perth site would be appreciated.
