Doris Jean Brown Stairs 19342022

Doris Jean (Brown) Stairs
1934-2022
It is with deep sadness, that we announce the passing of Doris Jean
(Brown) Stairs, formerly of Hartfield, NB, in her 88th year, at the
Briarlea Special Care Home, 75 Briarlea Street, Moncton NB, on Sunday,
19 June 2022.
Doris was born in Chatham, NB on the 02 August 1934 and was the
daughter of the late Kingston Brown and Muriel (Cripes). In addition
to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers Albert and Elwood
(Honey), Miramichi, NB and two sisters, Gladys and Jean.
Doris is survived by her husband, Eugene E. Stairs; her daughter,
Sharon Stairs, Ottawa, ON; sons Eugene, Moncton, NB and David,
Bedford, NS; two grandchildren Karly and Samantha; one brother
Kingston (Chick), Miramichi, NB; four sisters, Hazel, Miramichi, NB,
Shirley, Miramichi, NB, Rhoda, Winnipeg, MB and Pearl, ON, plus many
nieces and nephews.
Doris married Eugene Ellis Stairs (RCAF) on 30 November 1953 and as a
service member’s wife she relocated many times, starting in
Chatham, NB (1953-56) followed by North Bay, ON (1956-58),
Zweibrücken, West Germany (1958-62), Greenwood, NS (1962-71)
Summerside, PEI (1971-75), Portage La Prairie, MB (1975-77) and CFB
Gagetown, NB (1977), until Eugene retired and they were finally able
to put down roots and had their dream home built on Stairs Hill, NB in
1978. Doris’ most important job was her role as a mom and
raising her three children. After they grew up and left home, she took
the opportunity, and a great joy to her, to work at King’s
Landing as an interpreter from 1983 -1990. She would often reminisce
about the many friends, work colleagues and acquaintances who shared
that time with her. She was the happiest when she was gardening, and
she took great pride in her flowers. Gardeners are special people. It
takes patience and perseverance and a love for living things to grow a
garden or a beautiful flower.
Her family would like to thank the mangers and staff at the Briarlea
Special Care Home in Moncton, NB, for their excellent and
compassionate care.
Visiting hours at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic,
NB on Friday, 24 Jun 2022 from 12 noon until 2 pm with the funeral
service at 2 pm with Father John Keoughan officiating, followed by

Cemetery or a charity of one’s choice.
