It is with profound sadness that we are
announcing the passing of our mother, Doris Elizabeth
Spencer on December 24, 2022. Born in Port Elgin, NB
and later residing in Riverview, NB, Doris passed away peacefully at
the Moncton City Hospital with her family by her side.
She was the youngest daughter of the
late George and Annie (Leger) LeBlanc and was predeceased by her
loving husband Albert T. Spencer (2013); her siblings Edward (Irene)
LeBlanc, Adelard (Marie) LeBlanc, Isabel (Ronald) Larsen, Marjorie
(Roy) Cormier; a brother-in-law, Ronald Allen, and a nephew Ronnie
LeBlanc.
Doris was a loving, devoted mother and
will be deeply missed by her 5 children, Gary (Linda) Spencer of
Summerside PEI, Terry Lynn (John) Rodobolski of Cambridge ON,
Charlotte (Gerald) Melanson of Riverview NB, Wallace (Norma) Spencer
of Timber River, NB, and Kevin (Cathy) Spencer of Georgetown
ON.
Doris was a warm and caring grandmother
to 10 grandchildren: Michael Spencer, Craig (Emily) Spencer, Tricia
(Kris) Gutierrez, Lori Rodobolski, Nancy (Scott) Strickler, Jennifer
Melanson, Kristen Estabrooks, Tyler Spencer, Samantha Spencer, and
Chase Spencer; great-grandmother to 11 great-grandchildren: Brendan,
Cohen, Nolan, Madelyn, Michael, Matthew, Nash, Ivy, Nikolas, Kassidy,
and Ava Lee; and a highly favoured aunt to many nieces and nephews,
including her “special niece” Margaret McGlashing.
Doris is also survived by her older sisters, Rita Trenholm and Matilda
Allen.
Doris’ family would like to
express their appreciation to the many medical care staff members of
the palliative care department at the Moncton City Hospital for their
excellent care.
Arrangements have been entrusted to
Jones Funeral Homes, Port Elgin and
Sackville, NB, (506-364-1300). At Doris’ request, there will
be no visitation. A funeral mass will be held at St. Clements Catholic
Church, Church Street, Port Elgin on January the 3rd, 2023 at 1:30 pm
with a reception to follow at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Port
Elgin. Interment to take place in the parish cemetery in the
spring.
Family flowers only please, and any
donations made in the memory of Doris may be made to Alzheimer’s
Society of New Brunswick or to a charity of your
choice.
