Doris Ann Gass
1962-2022
Doris
Ann Gass, of Dempsey Corner. After a lengthy, courageous battle fought
with determination to the very end, Doris passed away peacefully at
home on October 19, 2022, at the age of 60 years young. She was
predeceased by parents, Edwin and Regine Maillet, brother, Brian. She
is survived by husband Gerry; son, Jeremy (Crystal) Gass, Union
Corner; brothers, Jimmy (Karen) Deveau, Saulnierville Station; and
David (Paula) Maillet, Pomquet; Godchild and nephew Jacob; as well as
her extended family. Doris will forever be remembered for her
compassion and generous spirit. She always displayed a genuine
interest in the wellbeing of others, including her family, friends,
co-workers, neighbours, and the many people she met on her travels.
After graduating at the top of her class from NSCC Yarmouth, she moved
to Halifax and worked in the retail sector, having an extensive career
with Loblaw Companies Ltd. She volunteered in many organizations and
schools and supported many local events throughout her entire life.
After a well-deserved early retirement, she moved to Dempsey Corner,
where she and Gerry, her loving husband of 37 years, settled in their
new home, appreciating the peaceful views and the tranquility of the
Annapolis Valley. Enjoying retirement, she was particularly excited to
spend more time with Jeremy and Crystal at their hobby farm. Doris
enjoyed travelling and looked forward to her regular trips down south.
She enjoyed crafting, sewing, designing beautiful quilts, working in
her immaculate gardens, and cooking in her kitchen, where she excelled
at everything from meals to canning and preserves. She enjoyed her
pets and had a love for all animals. Special thanks to her caring
friends and our dedicated NS Health Care workers for excellent
professional care during these past few years. Memorial donations may
be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Cremation has taken place
under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. A
service will be held in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church,
Shad Bay at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 27th, 2022, followed by
interment in Sunrise Park Cemetery.
