Obituary
Doriene passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
Doriene was the eldest child of Arthur R. Colson and Alice J. Johnson.
She is survived by her sisters, Diane Robson (Gordon), Colleen Raymo, and Mary Campbell (Ben). Doriene was preceded in death by her brother James Colson.
She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, extended family, and loved ones.
Doriene received her nursing diploma from Soldier’s Memorial Hospital’s School of Nursing in 1972 and returned to her hometown of Bracebridge to begin her nursing career at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital.
Her career in nursing lasted for more than forty years and covered the areas of Emergency Care, Operating Room, Long Term Care, and Critical Care. She also worked as a nurse in a doctor’s office and community nursing in client’s homes. Doriene then continued her nursing education and specialized in Nephrology nursing and began working in the Dialysis Units of Soldier’s Memorial Hospital in Orillia and part time at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital. Doriene finished her career in Orillia at the hospital that she had trained at.
You will be missed but you have earned your rest. Rest in peace, perfect peace.
A celebration of life for Doriene will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2022 from 1pm to 4pm at the Royal Canadian Legion in Gravenhurst.
Donations in Doriene’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
