Younger, Doreen (nee

Passed away peacefully on April 24, 2022 in her 90th
year. Doreen lived her life with her devoted husband Gerry
of 66 years. Beloved mother to Steve (Cathy), Lisa
(Andrew), Gary (Teresa) and sister to Margaret and John
Snowden. Loving Grandmother to Patrick, Peter and Michael,
Dain and Connor, Carolyn and Adam, Lilah, and James, Karen and
Sarah. Great grandmother to Macie and Oliver, and
Lincoln. Doreen is remembered by nieces, nephews and family
in England. Predeceased by her parents, John and Jane Luther, her
brother, John Luther and daughter, Carol.
Doreen was born in a small village outside of Whitley Bay,
England, July 25 1932. She met the love of her life and
lifelong partner, Gerry Younger, at a local dance in 1954.
Doreen and Gerry were married in the County of Northumberland, England
in 1956. They immigrated to Canada in 1958. They
stopped in Guelph to visit friends and decided to settle here. Doreen
and Gerry were active members of the Waterloo-Wellington Flying Club
with many hours spent at the Waterloo Airport, local airshows, and
flying to their favourite breakfast spots. Doreen
volunteered at numerous airshows and was the voice of the announcer,
sharing details of events happening in the sky. Doreen was a member of
Beta Sigma Phi for many years.
A private family service
will take place. Arrangements entrusted to
GILCHRIST CHAPEL – McIntyre
& Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph,
(519-824-0031). If desired, memorial
contributions made to the charity of your choice would be
appreciated.
