It is with heavy hearts that the family of Doreen Lynch announces her passing on May 3.
Born in Nelson on November 20, 1934, she & her twin sister Dorothy were the 11th & 12th children of Michael & Susan (Ahern) Lynch. Doreen worked at the Nelson Post Office for 41 years, with the last several years before her retirement being Postmistress. She enjoyed spending evenings at Richie Wharf socializing & listening to the music, going to the jams & the senior’s dances.
She is survived by her sisters Marie Rogers, Dorothy Hanley (Roy), & Frances Mahoney (Gary) & sister-in-law Liz Lynch. Doreen had no children of her own, but was like a second mother & grandmother to Dorothy’s family, Trudy & Michael Wallace, Troy & Krista Hanley, Layne, Cassidy, Lexa & Jorja, and was like a mother to Isabel’s daughter, Carolyn Cormier (Donnie).
She will also be greatly missed by her longtime companion Wendell Allison.
Active pallbearers are nephews & nieces Larry Lynch, Billy Lynch, Jimmy Lynch, Carol Despres, Carrie Lynch & Jan MacDonald. Music for the funeral will be provided by: Ted Lynch & Lexa Wallace.
She is survived by many other nieces, nephews & their families as well.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her fiancé Billy Young, brothers Gordon (Shirley), Ray (Sara), infant Aloysuis, George (Helen), Leonard (Alice), Louis (Doris) and Laurence; sisters Isabel O’Toole (Clarence), Lina Doyle (Clayte) and Ollie McKenzie (Vince); brother-in-law: Art Rogers; special nieces Colleen Lynch, Edna Carter & Susan Ramsay.
The family will receive visitors at Bell’s Funeral Home on Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 6-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Nelson on Friday at 2 PM with Father Anthony Dass Papu officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery at a later date.
