Obituary
It is with much love and special memories that we share the passing of Doreen Alberta Hopkins of Claresholm, Alberta, formerly Nanton, Alberta.
Doreen passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family in God’s arms on March 13, 2022, at the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre. Doreen lived her life guided by her faith in God and by the love from and for her family. Dorren was born in Nanton, Alberta, to Madeleine and Jim Ryan.
Her long and eventful life began in the Foothills west of Nanton. After finishing school, she moved to Calgary, where she worked at the Calgary Bowness Care Centre. She worked in and around southern Alberta until moving to Claresholm, where she continued working until her retirement in 1991.
Doreen was predeceased by her parents, Madeleine and Jim Ryan, her first husband Kelly, her second husband Jack Hopkins and special friend Harvey, beloved sons Mike, Doug and Jim, sisters Pat (Nick), Kate (Walt), brother Bill (Eileen), brother in law Bert and many loving and special family members and friends.
Doreen will be lovingly remembered by her sisters Dorothy and Mert, daughters in law Debi and Sandy, seven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Also cherishing her memory are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Doreen’s family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and gratitude for all the thoughtful expressions of love and kindness by family and friends during Doreen’s life and after her passing.
