Donna Shokeir 1936 2022

Obituary of Donna Shokeir
Donna Shokeir passed away on November 19, after a brief illness. A Celebration of her life will be held at 3:00pm, Saturday December 17, 2022 at Saskatoon Funeral Home.
Donna was born in Flint Michigan to Marguerite and Walter Nugent. She was the first person in her family to attend university, earning a BA in Psychology from Wayne State University and a Masters of Social Work from University of Michigan. At UofM, she met Mohamed Shokeir, a medical doctor from Egypt and a fellow student, doing his PhD in Medical Genetics. They married and moved to Saskatoon where Donna worked as a social worker in the Public School system, and they had their children, Omar and Zivy.
After retirement, Donna studied painting, earning a BFA and receiving the prize for best exhibition of the graduating students. She was a loving and generous wife, mother, and grandma, in addition to being a talented artist and a devoted professional. For the last six years, she lived at Parkville Manor where she enjoyed the active social environment and, in the last year, the company of her close companion, Harley Greening.
Donna is predeceased by her husband Mohamed and her son Omar. She is survived by her daughter Zivy Hardy (Lucien), her daughter-in-law Cheryl and by her grandchildren Eliza, Emma, Ezra, Helen, Joy, Julia, Katherine, Madeline, Peter, Philip, Vincent, and Vivienne. Her family is grateful to the staff at Parkville for their kindness, and to the staff at RUH and Glengarda for their compassionate care.

We offer our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Donna
