Donna Beckensell 1934 2022

Obituary of Donna Beckensell
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Donna Beckensell, resident of Dawson Creek, British Columbia, on Friday, March 11, 2022, at the age of 87 years.
We will dearly miss our mother Donna Alice Jane Beckensell (nee Kearney) who passed away in Dawson Creek on March 11, 2022 at the age of 87. Mom was born in Rainy River, Ont. in 1934 and moved with her parents James and Thelma Kearney and her sister to Dawson Creek in 1943. She graduated from South Peace in 1953 and remained good friends with many of her classmates for her whole life. She fulfilled her dream of becoming a nurse by graduating from Victoria’s Royal Jubilee Hospital’s nursing school in 1957. She returned to Dawson in 1971 as a strong single Mom and began nursing at Dawson Creek Hospital as an R.N. until her retirement in the mid 1990s. Most of those years were spent as nurse and then head nurse in the maternity ward where she helped bring many babies into the world. She kept in touch with many of her co-workers for coffee meet-ups well into her retirement years. She enjoyed the local arts scene and was a big supporter of buying local.
Predeceased by son Wade Beckensell in 2011. Survived by son Kevin Beckensell and daughter Tricia Beckensell, son-in-law Neil Mathison, sisters Molly Kearney and Verda Foeller of Ontario along with many nieces and nephews.
In respect to Donna’s wishes no service will be held at this time. For friends so wishing, donations may be made in memory of Donna to the BC Childrens Hospital Foundation, 938 West 28 Ave, Vancouver, BC, V5Z 4H4 or to the UNBC Medical Program, 3333 University Way, Prince George, British Columbia, V2N 4Z9.
Very Respectfully, Reynars Funeral Home and Crematorium.
