Donna Leigh Handrahan
1942-2022
A beautiful and most precious heart has stopped beating. Our
beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and adored sister,
Donna Leigh Handrahan completed her life’s journey with
dignity and grace on Monday, March 21, 2022 at the Dr. Everett
Chalmers Regional Hospital surrounded by the love of her family. Born
at Benton, NB on April 25, 1942 she was a much loved daughter of the
late Ralph C. and Juanita E. (Mills) MacMillan.
Donna was a much loved and highly respected member of the
Hanwell Mini Home Park and was known as a kind and most generous
chosen Mom and Grammie to countless teenagers and children who were
always received with a warm and compassionate welcome when they
arrived at her door. Donna possessed such a beautiful and noble spirit
and was always willing to help anyone in need. She loved to entertain
children and had a vast supply of coloring books, crayons, games,
sweets and cake mixes in unlimited supply that could be ready at a
moment’s notice. Donna had a love language for children that
endeared her to so many. Donna was also quite a character. She always
brought a lot of love, fun and laughter wherever she went. She was the
life of the party. You could always expect to receive a beautiful
rendition of “Happy Birthday” on your special day and that
will be missed by so many. Donna will be remembered for her unwavering
faith in God.
Donna has left a legacy of warmth, love and caring that her
children will forever cherish. She leaves behind two daughters and a
son who absolutely adored their mother, Mitty Sharpe (Randy), Carrie
Handrahan (Lori) and Les Handrahan. Her heart always smiled when her
granddaughter Sierra Sharpe and her great-grandson Joseph were in her
presence. Sierra truly was Grams “little angel”. They
brought such delight to her life. Donna had such a big heart for three
very special ladies who she added to her family, Laura, Katie and
Cassie. She was a treasured sister to Leah Anderson (Nelson), Judy
Handrahan (Steve), Duane MacMillan (Connie), Valerie Joyal (Jean
Claude), Lana Dickinson (Tommy) and Charlie MacMillan (Wendy). The
sibling bond was unbreakable. She is also survived by numerous nieces,
nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a host of cherished friends.
Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Earl
Handrahan (2016) and a sister Lynda Handrahan (2014).
