Purdy, Donna Jean (Shelley) (January 21, 1944 – May 26, 2022) –
It is with sadness, that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Donna Jean (Shelley) Purdy, on Thursday, May 26th, 2022, at her late Courtland residence, in her 79th year. Donna was predeceased by her much-loved husband of 56 years, James (Jim) Purdy (September 2, 2018). For many years, they were dedicated dairy, swine, and cash crop farmers in Courtland. For over 20 years, Donna was a dedicated School Bus Driver and was a past member of the Courtland Lioness Club.
Donna is survived by her children: Laura (Rick) Beneff, of Delhi and Jeff (Chantelle) Purdy, of Courtland. Proud nana and great nana to: Nicole (Mike) Corless and their children Caleb, Caylee, Dakota; Amanda Beneff (Dave Hudec); Harry Purdy and Bain Purdy. Survived by her sister Diann (Frank) Ruysseveldt, sister-in-law Barbara Ecker, brother-in-law John (Sandra) Purdy, her special aunt Pauline (late Donald) Atkinson, as well as by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Donna is predeceased by her son (Rob) Robert Purdy (2007), brother Ross Shelley (surviving wife Fern), sister Mary Ann (late Ray Schram), brother John Shelley (surviving wife Opal), sister Bonnie Damman (late Bob Millen).
In keeping with Donna’s expressed wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service will be held in the Courtland Baptist Cemetery, Courtland by Pastor John Twinem, of Springfield Baptist Church. All who knew Donna are invited to attend a Celebration of her Life on Saturday, June 18th, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Courtland Community Centre.
