KHAIRULLAH, Donald Gerald
It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of Donald (Donny) Gerald Khairullah, who passed away peacefully on May 20th, 2022 at age 89. Devoted and loving husband of 60 years and best friend of Ramona ( Isaacs), loving father to Brian (Nicole), Roy (Laurie), and Owen (Eliza). Dear grandfather to Donny, Martin, and Sam. Lovingly remembered by his older brother Edgar and many nieces and nephews.
Dad was born in Lahore, Pakistan in 1932. He and mom emigrated from Pakistan to Canada in 1964 landing in Montreal. They eventually moved to Ontario and lived in a number of cities before finally settling Napanee. After their arrival dad worked for several companies including, Lougheed, Mack Trucks, and finally as Chief Mechanical Inspector at UTDC (Lavalin) where they built the LRT for Vancouver. A project he was very proud to be a part of. During his career he received many acknowledgements for his dedication and hard work.
After experiencing serious cardiac issues in his fifty’s dad was the recipient of a heart transplant, which was performed at the Heart Institute of Ottawa. He was forever grateful for this amazing gift which prolonged his life by decades. After a period of time, he was able to communicate with the donor family and express his gratitude.
If you knew dad, you were probably at some time the target of his sharp, dry sense of humor. He especially liked to tease mom about anything and everything. He loved to have a good time and he liked his beer. He loved dessert. Dad was very outgoing, faithful, and kind. He enjoyed working on cars, but his building of furniture and renovations left much to be desired. Dad loved all the Toronto sports teams, especially the Maple Leafs, much to the dismay of his mother and sister in law who cheered the Habs. Over the years mom and dad had numerous pets including dogs and cats. Dad loved them all and they loved him back.
His humour, kindness, and good nature will be very much missed.
Cremation has already taken place and a Celebration of Life will take place on a future date. Arrangements have been entrusted in Wartman Funeral Home, Napanee.
