Donald Arthur Oryniak
1943 – 2022
Don died suddenly on September 21, 2022 in the hospital. He is survived by his wife Carol Patricia (Ricky), daughter Jamie-Anne (Ed), son Donald David, Tricia Claire and Robin Lorne (Rhonda); Five grandchildren, Kirby, Ash (Tilly), Jack, Kara, and Tess, brother Ken and sister Wendi.
Out of high school Don went to work for the Manitoba Telephone System. Later he went on to work at Great West Life as a group insurance underwriter. After his retirement he worked at the vendor at the Cavalier Inn. He loved that job. Greeting people and visiting with the regulars.
Don and Ricky were married in 1987. Together the built their dream home with Don designing everything exactly the way he wanted it. Many hours were spent gardening and enjoying the outside time. He loved to cook for Ricky in the chef’s kitchen he was so proud of.
In his younger years he was known as Pinball Don. He enjoyed spending time with Jamie and Donny teaching them the proper way to play the game. Any new home video game that came out, the kids were sure to be getting ASAP. Of course, he always played with them and becoming the first expert.
Grandpa Don was known as the Go to Guy for anything to do with computers. All the grandkids went to him for any help or device he could offer. He was always so patient and kind with all his grandkids.
The family will be gathering at the Elmwood Legion, 920 Nairn Avenue on Friday, October 14, from 1:00-3:00 that afternoon to remember Don, Dad, Grandpa.
