Obituary
Donald Edward Richards (Don) Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on March 4 after a short struggle with cancer, Donald (Don) Richards, age 82. Predeceased by his parents Mae and William Richards, brothers Leonard and Stanley Richards, parents-in-law Michael and Mary Louise Mulley and special brother-in-law Allan Mulley. Left to mourn with a broken heart, his loving and devoted wife Cecilia (nee Mulley), daughters Lori Thompson (Dean) in Connecticut and Darlene Giles (George) in Toronto, granddaughter Tiffany Lavender (Jesse), grandson Dean Jr. Thompson, great-granddaughter Arabella Lavender, brothers Victor (Marjorie), Kenny (Fatima) and Herve, sisters-in-law Lorraine and Winnie, many nieces and nephews, special niece Irene Mulley and special neighbours and friends Doreen and Kevin Greene, Jackie and Chris Byrne, Steven and Rose Tucker, Meta Bullen, Bertha Facey, Chris and Jennifer Rose and Miriam MacLeod and Bob Martin, as well as a wide circle of other friends. Don was a friendly and hard-working man who enjoyed helping other people. Don had many hobbies – he was a talented artist and woodworker and loved fishing, dancing and nature. He had great affection for animals, especially cats, and befriended every cat in his neighbourhood. A sincere thank you to the staff at St. Clare’s for their kindness during his stay and to Dr. Maureen Gibbons for her care over many years. No visitation. Cremation has taken place. A service to celebrate Don’s life will be held at Barrett’s Chapel, 328 Hamilton Avenue, on Wednesday June 1st at 2:00pm. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the SPCA or the charity of your choice.
