It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Dolorosa Murphy of Parker’s Cove announces her passing. Dolorosa passed away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre in Burin on Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022, at the age of 56. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her husband Denis Murphy of 33 years; children, Dylan of St. John’s, Deidre (Cameron Pittman) of Parker’s Cove and Darin of Parker’s Cove; sisters, Annie March (Clarence) of North Harbour, Rhoda Smith (Ralph) of Mount Pearl, Magdalen Mitchell (Patrick) of Terrenceville, Pearl Denty (Wylie) of Boat Harbour, Catherine Denty (Garfield) of Boat Harbour, Florence King (Randy) of Boat Harbour, Sadie Murphy (Calvin) of Parker’s Cove, Regina Gaulton (Rick) of Parker’s Cove; brothers, John Murphy (Florence) of Brantford, ON, Patrick Murphy (Thomasina) of Little St. Lawrence, Jerry Murphy (Maggie) of Torbay; brothers and sisters-in-law, Eileen Murphy of Marystown, Aloysuis Murphy (Phyllis) of Parker’s Cove, Eugene Murphy (Liz) of Parker’s Cove, Clayton Murphy (Betty) of Parker’s Cove, Agatha Brushett (John) of Parker’s Cove, Harold Murphy (Elizabeth) of Parker’s Cove, Bernice Vaters (Larry) of Parker’s Cove, Jerry Murphy (Gladys) of St. John’s, Calvin Murphy (Sadie) of Parker’s Cove, Daryl Murphy (Melinda) of Ontario; many special nieces and nephews; plus a large circle of extended family and friends.
Dolorosa was predeceased by her parents, Patrick and Genevieve Murphy; parents-in-law, Pius and Melinda Murphy; sister-in-law Rita Murphy; uncle Jim Murphy.
Dolorosa was a mild and modest lady who made friends everywhere she went. She was always a gentle but steady guiding hand in the lives of her children and her students. Dolorosa was able to make special connections with her students though English class, Art, and Drama. She made a positive impact in every life that she touched.
After retirement she enjoyed her flower garden and planting vegetables just to watch them flourish. In colder weather she liked to sew and snowshoe with her sisters. She had so many talents and hobbies and truly lived every day to its fullest. She will always be our special angel.
The Murphy Family will be accepting visitors at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church – Parker’s Cove on Saturday, November 26th, 2022 from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Sunday, November 27th, 2022 all day starting at 11:00 am. Church Funeral will take place at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church – Parker’s Cove on Monday, November 28th, 2022 at 11:00 am.
Cremation to follow and interment to follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Cemetery at a date to be announced.
In Dolorosa’s memory, donations may be made to to the Parker’s Cove Community Service Organization (EMT – council@eastlink.ca) or to the family to pass along to the Organization.
