Dolores was a devoted mother who absolutely loved horses, teaching and her art. Her name went into the history books at the age or fourteen, as a team member of the Alberta Rifle Association, when they took first place at the Canadian Nationals. She handed in a perfect score as her contribution to the team, and that is how she lived her life, whatever she pursued, she was all in.
She moved to Winnipeg Beach, Manitoba from Alberta in 1965 with her husband Roy, her two sons and 4 horses. They bought a piece of property there, and in time, opened up MacPherson’s Riding Stables, where she taught kids all about horses and how to ride.
She enjoyed a career in the aerospace industry, becoming a Quality Assurance Inspector at Bristol Aerospace. The product did not leave her department, unless her stamp was on it.
After retirement, she became one of the founding members of the Circle Square Ranch, a camp for kids to come for a week at a time where the kids bunked in chuck wagons.
The Lord called her, and she replied. Already divorced, she sold everything and traveled to less fortunate countries and taught English to the children there for many years.
Finally settling down in Gimli, Manitoba, where she joined the art club and volunteered where ever she was needed. She left us with two panels of her art work on the Gimli pier.
A funeral service will take place on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in the Bayview Evangelical Free Church, 8 Colonization Rd., South Gimli, MB.
We would like to thank Shirley and Dave Kowcun, Martha Friesen, her many other friends and the nursing staff at the Lorne Memorial Hospital.
She will be forever loved and deeply mourned.
