Obituary of Dick Laurin
RICHARD (Dick) LAURIN
January 17, 1943 – February 2, 2022
Richard Dick Laurin passed away on February 2, 2022 at the age of 79 years.
This winter Dick Laurin celebrated his 50th consecutive year of providing Hay and Sleigh Rides in the Edmonton and Sherwood Park areas. Although Dick was well known for providing Sleigh Rides with his beloved Belgian horses, he was also a dedicated mountain man and adventurer who spent 25 summers roaming the Rockies. Dick was a life-long horseman who preferred farming with horses over machinery, however he was also an academic with a Doctorate in Linguistics from the U of A.
Dick leaves behind his wife and soul mate Candace Villett-Laurin and her family; his sister Jacqueline Wiederspiel; niece Cynthia Plante Jenkins and family; niece Michelle Broomfield and family, and many long-time friends and extended family members.
Dick was predeceased by parents Joan & Phillipe Laurin & niece Sharon Plante.
A celebration of Dick’s life is planned for the spring with a gathering of horses and wagons.
Memorial Donations may be made to Haying in the 30’s Cancer Support Society.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Dick
