DeWilde Gary February 26 2022

William Gary DeWilde (Gary) March 6, 1965 – February 26, 2022
With heavy hearts, we the family have to announce that our beloved Gary passed away February 26, 2022, at the Grey Nuns Hospital, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada with family by his side. Gary leaves behind to cherish his memories, wife of 23 years Mable Underwood – DeWilde; son Tylen Dennison DeWilde; daughter Tralanne Daltone DeWilde; Mom Ina June DeWilde (Smith); Dad William Roger DeWilde (Bill); sister Debbie Annette Ulrich (Terry); niece Nicole (Kirck) and their two daughters; nephew Jeremy and one son; as well as a large extended family and friends! Gary’s friendly smile and infectious laugh will be sorely missed by all his family and friends.
Gary lived in Fort Saskatchewan his whole life and he lived it to the fullest. If he was not spending time with family and friends, he was doing something with his brain, usually a game that consisted of numbers. Gary could remember numbers and calculate math like nobody’s business. It is something he instilled in the kids as well: no calculators, use your brain power. Gary would carry on a conversation with anyone at any time and could be the crackerjack if he wanted. (Life of the party as well)
Gary graduated from Fort High School and went on to work 25+ years in the oil and gas industry as an Instrumentation Technician. Gary faced many challenges in his life, but not once would you hear him complain or give up. He was a man of determination and a will to prove and out prove everyone wrong. He did this time and time again with everything he did. Still today many people say they remember when Gary did this or when Gary did that.
Gary worked with determination and integrity and would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. Gary’s kind and caring nature drew many people to him.
Gary’s most prized possessions in this world and he would tell you this straight were his two beautiful children through and through. The sun and moon rose on his children. There is nothing he would not do or drop at a moment’s notice for his children. Family was first and foremost to Gary.
Summing up Gary’s life and how he lived his life: “Value the person when they are alive and don’t cry for them when they are dead” ‘Love King’
The family would like to thank the staff at the Grey Nuns Hospital for the kind and caring support they showed Gary during his stay and the support they have shown our family during this difficult time.
Donations can be made in Gary’s name to the Gymkhana club that his daughter is a member of: Attention: Kris @ Woodlands St. Anne Gymkhana Club 82 Feero Dr. Whitecourt, Alberta T7S 1E7 or to a charity of one’s choice.
‘Bury My Body But Don’t Bury My Beliefs’
A time will come when my life ceases. But when that time comes, I ask that you remember these things:
BURY MY BODY but don’t bury my beliefs
BURY MY HEART but don’t bury my love
BURY MY EYES but don’t bury my vision
BURY MY FEET but not the path of my life
BURY MY HANDS but not my diligent efforts
BURY MY SHOULDERS but not the concerns I carried
BURY MY VOICE but not my message
BURY MY MIND but don’t bury my dreams
BURY ME but don’t bury my life.
IF YOU MUST BURY SOMETHING, LET IT BE MY FAULTS AND MY WEAKNESSES. BUT LET MY LIFE CONTINUE ON IN YOU.
