Derald Edwin Kirkpatrick
1937-2022
Derald Kirkpatrick of Riverview passed away January 19, 2022
at The Briarlea. Born in Juvenile, NB, he was the son of the
late Grant and Mildred (Graham) Kirkpatrick. He worked for
Transport Canada at Fort Smith, NWT, Fredericton Airport and the
Moncton Regional Office for more than 37 years. He retired
in 1996. He was a loyal and trusted friend to many of his
co-workers. After his retirement he spent many months in
Texas and Florida making 39 trips in all. It was his great
pleasure to walk the beaches and meet new people from across Canada
and the US. Derald loved his family above all. He
was a proud dad and grandfather, always interested in every stage of
their lives and contributing generously to their well-being whenever
he could. He was a faithful member of St. Paul’s church
family and enjoyed being part of the Book Club discussion groups and
was involved with various committees. Derald was a Blue Jays
fan and had the pleasure of attending a few games when visiting in
Toronto. He was an avid genealogist and assisted in several
Kirkpatrick family reunions in the positions of President and other
advisory capacities. He also loved being an uncle to
Shirley’s nieces and nephews. He was also happy to host any
of the Saskatchewan family whenever they could leave their jobs or
farms for awhile. He was proud of his Maritime culture and
the beauty of this place. He travelled to many parts of the world but
was happiest right here in this part of Canada.
He will be dearly missed by his wife Shirley, daughters
Patricia (Michael Dixon) and Maureen (Tory Cassis), son Aubrey
(Kimberly) Kirkpatrick, grandchildren Chloe and Hunter Kirkpatrick,
Liam and Drew Dixon, and Cole Cassis, step-brother Laverne (Rose)
MacGougan, step-sister Carolyn MacGougan, aunt Ferne Andow,
as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He will be forever loved as the great husband, father and
grandfather he was. A kind, good, decent man! No one could
ask for more.
Due to the current Covid 19 restrictions visitation and a
service will take place at a later date to be announced. The
arrangements are entrusted to Cobb’s Funeral Home and
Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (869-2007). Donations
to St Paul’s United Church or Friends of The Moncton
Hospital would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences can be
