Dennis McArthur HALL December 2 1947 January 16 2022

Obituary
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Dennis McArthur Hall on Sunday, January 16th, 2022 in the Saanich Peninsula Hospital at the age of 74. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 43 years, Christine; children: Fern Marusiak (Jonathan), Paige Murphy (Ryan) and Joseph Hall (Ivy); grandchildren: Hayden Marusiak, Aubrey Marusiak, Sophia Marusiak, Aria Murphy, Ava Murphy, McKinley Hall and Matisse Hall;
Dennis was born in Victoria, BC to parents, Barry Earl and Jessie Hope Hall. He spent his early years with his siblings exploring the outdoors of his home in Oak Bay, then Beaver Lake. His love for the outdoors was instilled in him by his father and led him on a life long journey of mountaineering, kayaking, canoeing and hiking. He explored many mountains on Vancouver Island, the lower mainland and down through to Mount Olympus. This love for the outdoors also led him to serve for over 25 years in the scouting program. He was called as a scout leader at the age of 31 where he met his sweetheart Christine Brown, who was serving as cub leader at the time. They were married on July 19, 1978 in the Cardston Alberta Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He started Hall’s Irrigation in 1978 and ran a successful business until his retirement in 2013 when he and Christine left for Peterborough, England to serve an 18 month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He spent his life serving in various callings in the church; his most memorable as the beloved Bishop of Sidney ward, Family History Center director with his wife, Christine, and many years in the Young Mens and Scouting program. He shared his love for the outdoors with all the young men he served, taking them on winter camps, hiking trips, and scouting adventures.
During his last few years, he loved to spend his time researching his family history, reading books, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to many. His smile and spirit will be deeply missed.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Hospice Unit for their care and compassion.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 19th at 1:00pm at the Victoria Stake Centre for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 701 Mann Ave, Victoria, BC. Those unable to attend in person may view the service at the following Zoom link:
