Obituary of Denis Gagnon
October 25, 1956 – April 17, 2022
65 Years
It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Denis Gagnon. On April 17,2022 Denis made his way to his final rodeo in the sky, surrounded by his wife, sons, and daughter.
Denis had a work ethic like no other. He was an accomplished mason and travelled to many provinces to work.
In 1976 he married the love of his life Paulette (Bourdon). Together they had 4 children.
He was very proud of his children and his greatest joy was his grandchildren.
In 1990 Denis’s love of animals brought them to purchase what is still Gagnon Ranch. They raised many animals and Denis’s life would not have been complete without his horses. His love of animals also extended to many rodeos, chariot and chuckwagon racing as a competitor, outrider, and judge.
He held his independence till his final days. His unique, unfiltered, helpful character will be greatly missed.
Denis is survived by his wife Paulette; their children, Derrick (Lori) Tyson & Boston, Coralie (Monte) Colby, Toccara & Miley, Jordie (Joanne) Sophie, Sam, Gus & Beckham, Charlene (Brad) Carver, Callie & Aiden; mother, Joyce Palmer; special second parents, Ovila and Ruth Smith; brothers, Allain (Adeleine), Dale and Leon Gagnon; sisters, Cecile (Ray) Aalbers, Doris Sayers and Jeannette (Jim) Vogel; many nieces, nephews, and special friends.
He was predeceased by his father, Arsene Gagnon, infant brother, Denis; grandparents, Adjutor and Marie Gagnon, Harry and Georgina Rudyck; father and mother-in-law Raymond and Francine Bourdon; brothers-in-law, Mervin Sayers and Leonard Bourdon; and his beloved horse (Red) and dog (Pup) who together made more miles with him than can be counted.
