Obituary
In Loving Memory of
Denis Paul Lalande
June 18, 1943 – August 23, 2022
It is with deepest sorrow that the family of Denis Lalande announces his passing in the early hours on August 23rd at the Timmins and District Hospital at the age of 79. Denis was born on June 18, 1943, in Frederickhouse Ontario to Antoinette Lalande (nee Morin) and Edgar Lalande. He was a loving husband to his predeceased first wife Delores Côté and second wife Janis McTaggart. He leaves in mourning his stepchildren Terry Baker (Tammy), Tony Baker (Leanne) and Joanne Schachow (Christopher), along with his grandchildren Michelle, Crystal, and Chloe.
Stemming from a large family, Denis will be dearly missed by his siblings Maurice Lalande (Christine), Albert Lalande (Marie), Raymond Lalande (Nancy), Marielle Lalande (Jim), Suzanne Lalande, and Lillianne Lalande. He was also predeceased by his siblings Cecile Groulx (Victor), Nelson Lalande, Jean Louis Lalande (Lucienne), Marie Paul Lalande, Aline Lalande, and Rozanne Lalande (Jack). “Uncle Funny” also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Denis will always be known and remembered for his kind heart and gentle nature; usually evidenced by a furry companion faithfully by his side. His greatest happiness was spending time with his family and friends and was an avid volunteer in his community. Denis’ main goal in life was to bring laughter to everyone around him with his outlandish jokes and silly faces. His passing will leave an emptiness in our lives that will never be filled.
The family will receive friends and family on Saturday, September 3, 2022 from 9am till 11 am followed by the funeral service to be held at the Génier Gauthier Funeral home, 70 Seventh Ave. South of Cochrane.
Denis will be laid to rest beside his first wife Delores at the Cochrane R.C. cemetery.

No farewell words were spoken,
no time to say goodbye,
you were gone before we knew it,
and only God can tell us why.
It broke my heart to lose you,
but you didn’t go alone,
for part of me went with you,
the day God called you home.
