DEGRACE, Joseph Hilarion “Larry”, 87, of Dunnville, Ontario passed away peacefully on September 7, 2022 at Haldimand War Memorial Hospital.
Larry DeGrace, Born in Caraquet, New Brunswick on July 3, 1935, he was the son of the late Theodore and Baselisse (Doucet) DeGrace. He leaves behind his devoted wife and sole mate of 57 years, Rosemary (nee Gregory). Loving father of Michael (Kathy) of Peterborough, ON and Paul (Joanne Crozier) of Coquitlam, BC. Beloved brother of Sister Edna of Joliet, QC and Gemma Gagnon (Claude) of Welland, ON. Predeceased by siblings, Eda, Hilarion, Helena, Priscille, Edmonde and Estelle. He is survived by many adored nieces and nephews. He will also be sadly missed by his in-laws, who were among his closest friends. They had many, many good times together. Family was very important to him. Next to Rosemary, Larry’s boys were the light of his life.
Larry and Rosemary owned and ran the popular campground, Larry’s Hideaway, for many years. Larry also worked as a supervisor in water management for the Ontario Ministry of the Environment. Larry loved to laugh and could always tell a great story. He was a talented artisan and created many beautiful pieces over the years of animals, birds, lighthouses, boats, planes, etc. which he generously gifted to others. Larry had a love for boating, having owned and built many boats himself over the years. He will be so missed by all who knew him.
Many thanks to Dr. Ezzat along with the other doctors, nurses and staff who attended to Larry in the hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Haldimand War Memorial Hospital or the charity of your choice would be appreciated. A private family service will be held. Friends are invited to join the family in celebrating Larry’s life on Saturday September 17, 2022 at the Dunnville Lifespan Centre (275 Ramsey Drive) from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
