Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Deborah (Debbie) Marie Maher, nee Perrin, loving wife for 42 years to Gary Maher, on September 7, 2022, spending her final days surrounded by the love of her family and friends at Bobby’s Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer.
Debbie was born in Saint John, NB on April 7, 1956 to Jean (Davidson) Perrin and the late Harry Perrin. Debbie worked alongside her parents at the Fundyline Motel on the westside of Saint John until she took a job at NBLC in 1979 and met Gary, marrying the following year. Her greatest prides were her 3 sons, Kris (Amy) Maher of Saint John, Kyle (Krystyna) Maher of Hampton, Philip (Krista) Maher of Rothesay. Her greatest joys were her 4 grandchildren, Jack, Charley, Avery and Malcolm whom she loved and adored. The happiest of times for Debbie was when family was together, whether it was birthdays, holidays, weddings, or just because. It is from these special times where we draw comfort from the memories made, most recently having a bonfire for the grandchildren and overhearing them remember that “Nanny likes the burnt marshmallows.” In addition, Debbie is survived by her mother Jean Perrin, brother Jim (Darlene) Perrin and her best friends, Linda O’Donnell, Alison Brown, Sandra Holst and Marilyn Kelly.
Debbie is predeceased by her father Harry Perrin, father-in-law John (Jack) Donkin, mother-in-law Phyllis Donkin, special auntie June Dobson.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB (646-2424). In keeping with Debbie’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
We give our sincerest thanks and appreciation to the team of doctors, nurses and staff of Bobby’s Hospice who took special care of Debbie for the past 3 months, with a special thank you to Conner who painted Debbie’s nails and brightened her day. For those who wish, donations in Debbie’s memory may be made to Bobby’s Hospice to help them continue the amazing work they do.
