MIRAMICHI – Dean Joseph Martin of Miramichi died at home on Friday, May 6, 2022 at the age of 60. Dean was born on Sunday, July 9, 1961 in Chatham, Northumberland County, New Brunswick, the son of Aurele Joseph Martin and Mary Phyllis Deredin. Deanis predeceased by his father Aurele Joseph Martin, his mother Mary Phyllis Deredin and his two brothers Paul Joseph Martin and Gregory Joseph Martin.
Dean is survived by his three sisters Aurella Mary Alma Comeau (Joseph) of Moncton, Dolores Catherine Landry (Late Carl) of Miramichi, and Deborah Ann Doyle (Late Lloyd) of Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, and his three brothers Gary Joseph Martin (Sarah) of Halifax, and Darrell Kevin Martin (Theresa) and Jason Christopher Martin (Joanne) both of Miramichi, and his aunt Dolores Winnifred (Deredin) McDermaid(Late William)and his Uncle Louis Galliah (Paula) both of Miramichi.
Dean Martin was a long-time professional Chef. He attended James Michael Hill Memorial High School in Chatham, the ‘Basic Cooking’ Course at the New Brunswick Community College in Moncton in 1987 and in 1988 completed the ‘Advanced Culinary Arts’ course at the New Brunswick Community College at Saint Andrews by the Sea campus while working at the Algonquin Hotel. He participated in a cooking competition held at the World Trade Centre in New York City in the wild game category and earned second place standing for his stuffed rabbit entry.
Dean was cremated and his ashes will be buried in the grave with his parents at Saint Michael the Archangel Basilica Catholic Cemetery In Chatham.
Mass of Christmas Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Basilica, Reverend Father Dan Bastarache officiating. Internment of ashes will follow immediately after mass.
