Born in March 26, 1971 in Sydney City Hospital and died June
16, 2022 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in
Fredericton.
Dawn Marie spent her first 15 years growing up with her
brother Mark and many friends on Towerwood Drive in Crossroads, PEI.
She was an active young lady, attending Girl Guides and many youth
activities at Trinity United Church in Charlottetown. After moving to
Fredericton, NB, the summer before starting at Fredericton High
School, Dawn Marie made lots of new friends, and met her husband,
Martin (Marty) Gordon. After high school Dawn found her calling as a
respiratory therapist, attending Thompson River’s University
in Kamloops, BC.
After returning to New Brunswick, Marty and Dawn Marie
married. After a just year in Fredericton, they moved to New Jersey
for a few years. They came back to Fredericton for a few years before
moving to Victoria, BC. Throughout these moves, Dawn Marie made many
good friends whom she stayed in touch and shared their ups and
downs.
In British Columbia, Dawn Marie enjoyed the beautiful
landscapes and discovered many more new friends. She also discovered
her lifelong dream of becoming a mother to Charlotte Lilly
Gordon. For the next 13 years, Charlotte was the Center of
her world.
All Dawn Marie’s friends, and family knew her to be
kind-hearted and unendingly generous. She always made a big deal of
special occasions; birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, weddings,
births, all of these would send her off to find the perfect gift or to
plan a dinner or party to celebrate. Dawn Marie’s giant
heart and affinity for planning every detail were perfectly suited to
providing Charlotte with the unique care she required.
We are pleased that Dalhousie Medical School accepted the
donation of Dawn Marie’s body for medical research, a
life-long desire of hers.
Dawn Marie volunteered with multiply charities over the
years, including the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Autism Awareness,
and most recently, Fredericton North Rotary Club.
Dawn Marie is survived by her husband, Martin Joseph Gordon;
daughter, Charlotte Lily Gordon; mother, Joan Elizabeth MacKenzie
(Carew); father, Lloyd Steven MacKenzie; brother, Mark Steven
MacKenzie; sister-in-law Melanie MacKenzie (Parnell); father-in-law
John Louis Gordon and mother-in-law Geraldine Gordon, and numerous
nieces and nephews.
Funeral will take place Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 2pm at St.
Dunstan’s Church with a reception to follow at the Wilmot
Church.

disability, or Camp
Rotary, an accessible, accredited summer camp owned and
operated by Easter Seals New Brunswick.
