• In 1961, he was sent to St. John’s College, Jaffna to continue his studies.
• At his early age, he developed a true love for sports and music, and became an ardent cricket fan and was so passionate about following all aspects of this sport.

• But, just as his prospects in his chosen field of work were finally on the rise, a full-scale war broke out in Jaffna. He saw many of his close friends die in the violence. The university where he worked was in turmoil and the administration was crippled.
• Because of the dire security situation and for the sake of his children’s future, he decided to migrate to Canada in 1988.
• Due to his perseverance, he found work immediately upon arrival in the banking field. He worked sometimes 2 jobs and seven days a week to build a future for his family in the new country.
• His determination paid off and he was able to sponsor his wife and children to come to Canada in 1991.
• They have settled well and prospered due to their father’s initial efforts and hard work.
• As the eldest in the family of 9 boys, he was a great leader and guide to his younger siblings as well.
• His loyalty to the family, his sense of duty, his sense of responsibility, and his exemplary conduct towards all he came into contact in his 77 years is beyond question
