David Gordon Jones 1947 2022

It is with heavy heart we announce the passing of our father, David Gordon Jones, on August 11th, 2022.
Born December 17th, 1947 in Fredericton, to Harry and Lily (Ware) Jones, David started his life journey in Barker’s Point and completed it at ‘the farm’ in Williamsburg.
He is survived by his daughter Shelley Jones of New Glasgow NS; son David Jones (Nicole); grandsons, Gavin and Ian Jones of Berry Mills NB; step-son Chris Munn (Valerie) of Williamsburg; step-grandchildren Kelly Bridges (Terry), Whitney Grant, Christopher (Katie); siblings Eleanor Scott (Bert), Donna Ward (Bill) of New Maryland, Angela Brewer (Keith) of Fredericton, Diane Stanton (Stanley) of Whale Cove, NS; in-laws Wayne Jones (Erma) of Beaver Dam, Gary Jones (Ann), Donna Fawcett (Stephen) of Fredericton, Trudy Edgar (Karl) of Stanley, Brian Jones (Heather) of Nackawic, and Kenneth Jones of Fredericton, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved furry companion Tobby.
In addition to his parents, David is predeceased by his wife, Lois Jones; sister Edith Darrah; brother Keith Jones, and brother-in-law Winston Jones.
Dad had a very quick wit and was well liked by everyone who met him – many would initially be surprised and/or caught off guard by his joking and fun antics, but then look forward to his visits and what he might say or do next. He was a talker, always had a story to tell about ‘what went on’, worksites, people he worked with, places he travelled to, etc.
He always had a project on the go, fixing or building this or that, and dreaming up what he could do next, yet he always made time and was willing to help people out with anything, he rarely said no.
Dad’s favorite place to be was “down back” in the woods. It was his happy place, where he was most at peace. There he did what he wanted to do – hunt, fishing, cut trees, split wood, burn brush piles – where he could/would think best.
A Pipefitter and Welder by trade, he travelled back and forth across Canada several times throughout his career. He was a very hard worker, enjoying the fact that he could outwork many younger apprentices, right into his seventies. He also enjoyed woodworking, and shadetree mechanics. He was a jack-of-all trades (most of the time).
Respecting his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Burial will be September 16th, 2022 in the Williamsburg Cemetery. McAdams Funeral home is entrusted with his arrangements.
We would like to thank the doctors and staff of the Oncology Unit, the staff of the Extra Mural program, the doctors and staff of 4NW and the Palliative Care Unit at the DECH for their kindness, compassion and the wonderful care Dad received in this last chapter of his life.
In honor and memory of Dad, we suggest a donation to the IWK, The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC), The Canadian Wildlife Federation, a charity of one’s choice, and/or an act of kindness to help someone out in need.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of David
